Missguided_smMissguided exclusively migrated their program to Affiliate Window in April 2016, so we took the time to catch up with their team to learn more about their network experience, the impact the migration has had on performance, and their strategy goals for 2017.

What were the reasons behind the decision to launch Missguided affiliate program exclusively with Affiliate Window? 

We wanted to gain a greater insight into our affiliate program. Our previous network would not allow for code usage or details such as whether the customer was new or existing, or what they purchased. Given our success in the UK, a global consolidation to Affiliate Window was a sensible next step. Affiliate Window is our exclusive affiliate marketing network because they are known as an innovative network with the best technology and are always releasing new insights.  We have started using the cross-device tracking feature, which makes up 5% of our total revenue.

Since launching the program, has there been changes in performance?  If yes, what do you attribute the impact of the performance to?

We have seen a significant improvement in performance with revenues up 800% YoY in some months. Our relationships with affiliates carried over from our previous affiliate program greatly improved through strong account management support and we have also attracted several new affiliates of all types.

Now that the program has been live for almost a year, what is Missguided focusing on regarding the strategy for the program moving forward?

This year we are focusing on growing our publisher base, optimizing the affiliate program and increasing brand awareness. Missguided is very well known in the UK and we are looking to do the same with the US market. It is important for our brand to grow internationally and we know Affiliate Window has great connections to assist in this part of our 2017 strategy.

Additionally, we have been working hard to establish relationships with new publishers over the past few months, and this continues to be an area of our affiliate program that we plan to focus on.  Our attendance at ASW in Vegas with Affiliate Window allowed us to schedule face-to-face time with affiliates that we have not worked with previously, as well as meet our existing publisher base to scope out new ideas and ways we can work together going forward.

A new dedicated team at Missguided is now looking to localize trading plans and offers to the US event calendar. Some new initiative currently evaluated might include A/B testing, exclusive discounts and shipping offers to increase engagement.

Kate Stanley, your US Affiliate Marketing Executive stated that this past year saw massive improvements to the program with Affiliate Window’s help. What activities are you looking to leverage in 2017 to grow performance further?

There are a few exciting activities planned for 2017. We are launching a new spokeswoman in March; who is very well known globally, so we think this collaboration will be amazing!  We also releasing our menswear brand, Mennace, which will be introduced in the UK in September, and in the US shortly thereafter.  We also plan to add more to our bridal, active wear, and Peace and Love collections.

Case Study: Benefits of TM+ Bidding Partnerships

Manuka Image 3This Manuka Doctor and Couponology case study highlights trademark + term bidding, from the goal of the program, to the strategy and the results from using this type of affiliate marketing strategy.  So what exactly is trademark + term bidding?  It is when an affiliate asks the advertiser for permission to run a paid search campaign on the brand’s behalf and allows for the affiliate to have a brand specific coupon or sale initiative and is strictly performance-based.

 THE GOAL

Skincare and premium beauty brand, Manuka Doctor, wanted to increase traffic to their US site while building brand awareness with US consumers.

THE STRATEGY

Affiliate Window introduced a partnership between Manuka Doctor and Couponology, who is able to use their search team to run a Trademark Plus Search Campaign through the affiliate program, on the performance model.

In exchange for TM+ rights, which were agreed upon prior to the campaign and were within Manuka Doctor’s T&C’s, an increased commission rate, and an exclusive promotion code, Couponology was able to provide Manuka Doctor with marketing placements onsite that would contribute to the increase in traffic and brand awareness.

THE EXPOSURE

Couponology increased the exposure for the brand when shoppers searched for terms like Manuka promo, Manuka discount, Manuka code.

In combination with the search campaign, Manuka Doctor was featured on the Couponology Homepage, relevant category pages, within newsletters sent to 750,000 subscribers, and throughout Couponology’s social channels.

The marketing placements brought awareness to the exclusive offers which included a 10% off site wide and 20% off full price Manuka Doctor products, this included 10% off Manuka Doctor Honey, their top selling product.  These offers ensured that Couponology was given the best possible offers and products to promote.

THE RESULTS

Over the 6-month period, primary KPIs saw substantial uplift during the TM+ Search Campaign period with the activity realizing a ROI of 904%.

The success of the campaign not only increased brand awareness of Manuka Doctor US, but also increased traffic to the site with an increase of 290% in clicks.  Realizing the growth MoM with Couponology, Manuka Doctor extended the campaign into 2017.

Quarterly Mobile Update- Q4 2016

Affiliate Window’s mobile data is drawn from over 3.5m network transactions each month across 2,100 advertisers spanning the retail, travel and telecoms sectors.  Our top consumer brands include HP, Etsy, Hyatt Hotels, and Missguided.

Q4 2016 US Mobile Performance

– 48.9% of traffic originated from a mobile device- a slight increase from 48.4% in Q3 2016

– 30.8% of traffic came from a smartphone- up from 20.7% in Q3 2016

– 18.1% of traffic came from a tablet- down from 27.7% in Q3 2016

– 25.2% of sales originated from a mobile device- up from 23.7% in Q3 2016

– 17.1% of sales came from a smartphone- up from 16.3% in Q3 2016

– Mobile traffic converted at 3.3%- up from 1.9% in Q3 2016

– Mobile Average Order Value (AOV) was $ 56.62- up from $ 54.20 in Q3 2016

Q4 2016 Headlines- Affiliate Window Cross-Territory

– 59% of traffic across the network originated from a mobile device

– 44.7% of sales across the network originated from a mobile device

– 85,130 sales came through a mobile device (smartphone and tablet) each day

– 48,800 of these were through a smartphone

– 2,033 sales were generated through a smartphone each hour, up nearly double from Q3 2016

– 1,751 clicks originated from a mobile device each minute

– 39.23% of revenue generated for our advertisers originated from a mobile device in Q4 2016, up from 34.77% in Q3 2016

As well as the top level data on the share of traffic and transactions by device category, we also provide comprehensive reporting into the individual devices that are driving these trends- from share of mobile activity, right down to conversion rate and AOV for each device.  In Q4 we saw:

– Android smartphones accounted for 21.4% of smartphone traffic and 23% of sales

– Android tablets accounted for 80.21% of tablet traffic and increased to 43.13% of sales

– iPad AOV continues to perform significantly higher that Android tablets. with $ 81.35 in Q4 (compared to $ 60.13 for Android tablets)

– iPads consistently see a higher conversion rate than Android tablets, with nearly 6.5% difference seen in Q4 2016, with 7.96% and 1.49%, respectively

Affiliate Window Hosts Another Successful Chill-Out Lounge at ASW 2017

ShareASale Party 2Affiliate Window attended this week’s Affiliate Summit West, held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.  The three-day conference  connects key industry partners and introduces our market-leading technology to new publishers and prospective advertisers,  drawing more than 6,000 digital marketers from over 70 countries.

We leveraged this unique opportunity to foster business relationships, but most importantly, this year, we were excited to  celebrate the ShareASale acquisition through Affiliate Window with all of our industry partners.  Thank you to everyone for  the overwhelming congratulatory responses and to all who took the time to stop by.

In addition to exhibiting at the conference, we hosted our 2nd Chill-Out Lounge at Bally’s Las Vegas, where we brought      together advertisers, agencies and publishers to enjoy brunch, chair massages, and great discussions away from the busy  show floor.
